Hello everyone! Welcome to this episode of Readability! This week, I’ve finally thought of something to do, instead of a review. On this episode, I’m going to informing you guys why reading is important for kids, or any age for that matter!
I think reading is super important, so I’m going to give you reasons why I think it is! I’m not going to make this super long, so without further ado, here go!
The Book Review Podcast
Reason 1: You Learn New Things
A great reason to support why reading is important! When you reading, you’re actually boosting your vocabulary and you learn new things along the way, well, if you choose the right book.
A good example, in my opinion, that lets you enjoy the story while learning new things is The Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, along with Rick Riordan’s other series. Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, and more!
If you didn’t know, the books are about different mythologies, Percy Jackson and the Olympians being about Greek Myths. You have fun reading this adventurous story and at the same time learn new Greek Myth info!
If you want my review on the book, head over to episode 18! (The sea of Monsters episode will be made soon) if you want an example of a book that increases your vocabulary skills are Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
When I read it, it taught me so many phrases and words that I learned about in that series! The point is, books can teach you a lot of stuff, even if you don’t realize it! Once you get a good book, you’ll start to notice that it’s improving the way you talk, think, and learn!
Reason 2: It’s Healthy!
Let’s be honest, most kids don’t really care about their mental health. But if you really think about it, reading, for kids, is such a more healthier choice then playing video games or watching YouTube!
Along with learning things, which is great for school, you have a healthy habit that doesn’t affect your brain. It’s important for kids to understand that reading is superior when it comes to your mental health.
Reason 3: You Improve Any Reading Skills You Need for School
You may be wondering… Wait, what do you mean by that? In school, there’s a whole subject that’s about English or reading!
The more you read, you’ll be getting better and better with your reading skills, comprehension, or just understanding what you’re reading and more!
It’s like you have a head start in reading! (If that makes any sense) You’re reading skills are going to increase by a lot and you’ll have experience! You can read faster, make connections to other books you’ve read, and you can have friends that love to read to!
Well, besides that also you’ll grow as a reader, your taste will be more advanced and you’ll just get, better!
